"She's going to win...": Avi Yemini's title leaves out a name, and the comments supply Pauline Hanson's
Viewers write about farmers, a lawyer on men and women in court, and a crowd they say sold out, two days after Hanson's campaign launch went out live on his channel.
Why this story? The video opened at a pace of 98,725 views a day, 6.2 times a normal first day on this channel (15,855).
She's going to win...
Avi Yemini gave his newest video a title with a pronoun and no name: "She's going to win..." Posted on October 6, it was close to 100,000 views within 23 hours, about six times what a new video of his usually gathers across a whole first day. The description is only a request for support, so the clearest guide to what is in it comes from the people watching.
They fill in the blank quickly. Pauline Hanson and her One Nation party run through nearly every popular comment. Viewers single out a lawyer who spoke about how men and women are treated in court. Others write about farmers, and about how varied the crowd looked to them, and several say the event sold out. The conversation moved fast: the comment section had passed a usual full first day's worth well before its first day was over.
Yemini, who calls himself Rebel News' chief correspondent in Australia, has made Hanson his main subject lately. Two days earlier he carried her campaign launch live, as we reported here. On the same day as this video he posted a short titled "Pauline Hanson TROLLED Mehreen Faruqi," featuring the Greens senator, and "Pauline Hanson ALWAYS Delivers" followed the next day. The run has lifted the whole channel, which is drawing about twice its usual daily views.
