Protesters in Karnataka display a long cloth covered with the names of people they say were removed from voter rolls. It is one of the most concrete images in a nationwide report about India's election dispute, extending the story beyond the opposition leaders gathered on a stage in Delhi.
New Delhi Television's Hindi news channel, NDTV India, based in India, brings the demonstrations together in Syed Suhail's programme. The dispute concerns SIR, or Special Intensive Revision, a process for reviewing electoral rolls, and opposition allegations that voters have been improperly deleted.
At Delhi's Ramlila Maidan, the broadcaster reports that 19 opposition parties gathered to demand the resignation of Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar. Footage shows Congress leaders Rahul Gandhi and Priyanka Gandhi alongside Akhilesh Yadav and Mamata Banerjee. Gandhi, the opposition leader in India's lower house of Parliament, alleges that the 2024 national election was illegitimate and accuses the Election Commission of helping Narendra Modi and Amit Shah remain in power. These are Gandhi's allegations, not findings established by the report.
Home Minister Shah responds by accusing the opposition of spreading falsehoods, disorder and negativity, and predicts another term out of government for them. BJP spokesperson Sambit Patra also attacks Gandhi at a press conference.
Suhail follows the competing demonstrations beyond the capital. In Thane, Maharashtra, Devendra Fadnavis and Eknath Shinde lead a march, with Shinde criticizing Gandhi's accusations against Modi. Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma appears at a march in Shimla. Other sequences show a Samajwadi Party worker being carried away by police in Lucknow and a BJP protest in Agartala.
A separate strand covers demonstrations in Ludhiana marking the anniversary of the 1984 anti-Sikh riots, where effigies of Congress leaders are burned. Suhail also contrasts organizers' attendance claims with police estimates rather than presenting a single agreed crowd count. Some visuals carry an "AI GENERATED" label.
The upload is titled "Bharat Ki Baat Batata Hoon | Opposition Rally Vs BJP Protest, किसने क्या कहा ? Syed Suhail", meaning "Opposition rally vs BJP protest: Who said what?" Its later sections assemble the leaders' statements and counterarguments, while the Karnataka footage gives the voter-deletion allegation a visible form.
