A skeleton Devil Dinosaur and an Infinity War mode: Marvel Rivals' Halloween Dev Vision
GuangGuang's walkthrough of Season 10.5 led a busy day of reveals, and its comment section went straight for the Infinity Stones.
Why this story? The video opened at a pace of 847,607 views a day, 14 times a normal first day on this channel (58,551).
Season 10.5: New Modes and Halloween // Dev Vision Vol. 22 | Marvel Rivals
A new video on the official Marvel Rivals channel usually gathers around 60,000 views in its first day. Dev Vision Vol. 22 passed 600,000 in about thirteen hours.
The Dev Vision series is the developers' own briefing ahead of each new season, and this one is billed as the spookiest yet. GuangGuang, the game's creative director and its usual face for these updates, walks through what Season 10.5 brings: Halloween content, new modes and other changes as the Path to Doomsday storyline continues.
The headline mode got its own trailer the same day, and it drew almost as big a crowd. Path to Doomsday - Avengers: Infinity War, which the description says arrives with the season on October 9 UTC, sends six duo squads into one fight, with the Infinity Stones changing hands from match to match. Viewers compare it to the arena mode in League of Legends, and several suspect it is a quiet test run for Thanos as a playable hero someday. One moment around the 1:40 mark draws the most knowing replies: a stone handed to Black Widow, which Marvel film fans know is a cruel joke.
The costumes get plenty of attention too. A skeletal Devil Dinosaur, Moon Girl's towering partner, is the skin people keep naming, and Elsa Bloodstone's new outfit reminds some players of Bloodborne. A separate reveal of a Blade costume, "The Bloodthirsty King Reigns!", went up the same day.
And the thumbnail, which shows GuangGuang himself, has become a running joke, with viewers declaring him the season's real new hero.
