A cosmic Phoenix, no recolors: Marvel Rivals' celestial costume reveal

The Jean Grey skin went up beside a Luna Snow reveal and a run of Ignite Stage 2 broadcasts from three regions.

Why this story? The channel's weekly summary: what went up this week, what is drawing views now, and where the channel stands among similar channels.

"Reignite the flame within" is the reveal of a new Phoenix costume, and it was the most watched of the twelve uploads on the official Marvel Rivals channel, NetEase's home for its free-to-play Marvel hero shooter. Jean Grey gets a celestial look here, part of a cosmic theme that also dressed Luna Snow in a reveal posted a day later.

The comments read like a costume committee. Fans list the Phoenix looks she already has, from White to Dark, and greet this one as the newest in the line. The most liked thread asks why such a fiery character arrived without ultimate effects or a red-orange recolor, especially when, as several point out, the Luna Snow skin seems to get them. Others simply ask when Blade, Storm, T'Challa or the Human Torch get their turn.

The rest of the week belonged to esports. Ignite Stage 2 group-stage broadcasts came in from the Americas, EMEA and Pacific-Asia, with Sentinels, TSM, Natus Vincere and FlyQuest among the teams on the cards, and the two newest of those replays are the videos picking up views fastest right now.

The channel ran lighter than its usual daily pace, though it still added around 10,000 subscribers. Among game publisher and esports channels of similar size, VALORANT Champions Tour is having the big week, with Marvel Rivals in the upper part of the group by views gained.
