Shanghai's Day 7 runs past five hours and past a million views
The full Group Stage broadcast from VALORANT Champions drew more than a hundred times a usual first day for the channel, while the day's aces and match highlights drew a far smaller crowd.
Why this story? The video opened at a pace of 1,700,495 views a day, 108 times a normal first day on this channel (15,800).
VALORANT Champions Shanghai — Group Stage — Day 7
Day 7 of the Group Stage at VALORANT Champions Shanghai is now up in full, and it is long. Viewers are posting timestamps beyond the five-hour mark. Fourteen hours after it went up, the replay had passed 1.2 million views, more than a hundred times what a new upload on this channel usually draws in its first day.
The tournament explains why. Champions is the season-ending world championship of Riot Games' esports circuit, and this year's edition runs in Shanghai from September 24 to October 18, with sixteen teams from the Americas, China, EMEA and Pacific. Each Group Stage day has gone up as one complete broadcast, and the people who missed it live are watching that version.
The smaller pieces cut from the same day tell the other half. The full NS vs. XLG match, its highlights and two shorts went up alongside it: one with the team comms during Rarga's Sheriff ace, one with Erv's ace on an eco round. None of them came close to the replay.
The comments read like notes from a marathon. One of the most liked is a spoiler blocker, with timestamps promised in the replies. As on Day 6, several viewers ask about the many technical pauses. Others point out a moment late in the broadcast when a Yoru decoy, the agent's fake copy of himself, looked for a split second as if it were helping hold the site. Some of the discussion turns to how the Chinese teams have held up at an event in their home region.
