Video taking off 19x its usual first day

No rage to spare: World of Warcraft: Forever's class tour opens at eighteen times usual

Part one covers Warriors, Shamans and Rogues, and its comments became one long joke about Warriors running out of rage and one Shaman spec that went missing.

Why this story? The video opened at a pace of 618,863 views a day, 19 times a normal first day on this channel (33,154).

Blizzard has started walking players through the classes of World of Warcraft: Forever, the new version of its game that went into beta last week, as we reported here. The first stop is going much faster than the channel's videos usually do. Twelve hours after it went up, "Class Highlights - Part 1: Warrior, Shaman, Rogue" had passed 427,000 views. That pace points to about eighteen times what a new upload here usually gathers in its first day.

The video runs under six minutes, one chapter per class, and is billed as the first of three. It goes through the major changes to each class and its specs. The tags list them in full: Arms, Fury and Protection for Warriors; Elemental, Enhancement and Restoration for Shamans; Assassination, Combat and Subtlety for Rogues. The short clips cut from it on the same day, a whirlwind Warrior and a Rogue told to embrace Venom, are still in the tens of thousands.

The comment section has found its subject, and it is rage, the resource Warriors build up in combat and spend on their attacks. Commenter after commenter says they cannot press the like button or finish the video for lack of it. A few more serious threads argue over how rage should work in Forever.

The other talking point is a gap. Several viewers noticed that the Shaman chapter seems to pass over Enhancement, the melee spec. A day later the channel posted a short of its own, saying that Forever's Enhancement Shamans are in their element.
