'How is World of Warcraft Forever looking so far?' MadSeasonShow starts playing

His first episode in the new game passed 650,000 views in about two days, and it lifted the whole channel to its busiest day in a long while.

Why this story? The whole channel is running at 661,007 views a day, 11 times a normal day (62,291).

"World of Warcraft Forever" went up on MadSeasonShow on October 1, and two days later it had passed 650,000 views. The channel's latest single day brought in more views than the other six days of the week put together.

The new video did not come out of nowhere. MadSeasonShow made his name with long, thoughtful essays on World of Warcraft's history, but lately his feed has leaned toward Old School RuneScape: an ironman run played blind with no guides, now at episode 45 with "I Got Tricked Into a Surprise Boss Fight." In early September he posted a compilation of his "Most Crazy & Unhinged Moments" series and admitted in the description that he had been a little absent on the WoW side. He expected that to change if Blizzard announced a "classic plus" at BlizzCon.

Nine days later came "World of Warcraft: Forever - Everything We Know," a roundup that, judging by its tags, covers the beta, release date, early access and name reservations. It has passed 1.3 million views, far more than anything else he posted around it.

The new upload moves from reading about the game to playing it. Its tags call it episode 1 and a playthrough, and the description asks a single question, how the game is looking so far, before inviting viewers to send suggestions and requests.

The channel's about page carries just one line: "Told you so by the way." Among strategy and role-playing channels near its size, Gbay99 is also running ahead of its usual pace, while the RuneScape channel TorvestaRS is having a quieter stretch.

The RuneScape ironman has reached episode 45. The Forever series has just reached its first.
