Rise of Castles: Ice and Fire gets a vacation pitch from Google Play
The store's only new upload is a short travel-themed ad for a strategy game, while a Comic-Con clip from July has passed 3.4 million views.
Why this story? The channel's weekly summary: what went up this week, what is drawing views now, and where the channel stands among similar channels.
Your dream vacation awaits…
Two days old, and already the busiest video on Google Play's channel, if only just. "Your dream vacation awaits…" dresses up a game ad as a travel brochure: the description invites viewers to catch the next flight to Rise of Castles: Ice and Fire, a castle-building strategy game on the store. It was the one upload of the week, and it has gathered a few hundred views a day.
That is about what the older videos manage too, which says something about how this channel works. The Comic-Con clip from San Diego, where Google Play Points members could pick up rewards at the show, is more than two months old and sits past 3.4 million views, yet it moves at nearly the same daily pace as the new ad. Close behind is a spring video about playing across phone and PC, with Game Trials and one purchase unlocking both versions of a game. It has passed nearly seven million views over its lifetime.
Across the channel, daily views held close to their usual level, and the subscriber count did not move. Among game publishers and esports channels of similar size, the big weeks belonged elsewhere: VALORANT Champions Tour and Zenless Zone Zero are both running well above their usual pace, while The Sims and Plants vs. Zombies are quieter than normal. Google Play, a storefront rather than a studio, kept to its own calm rhythm.
