A Peashooter costume, plushies and a zombie kiss: 'he flew 💀'
The official Plants vs. Zombies channel posted three short gags, and the costumed one has viewers planning their own Halloween outfits.
Why this story? The channel's weekly summary: what went up this week, what is drawing views now, and where the channel stands among similar channels.
he flew 💀
The official Plants vs. Zombies channel spent its week on three tiny jokes, each with a title that reads like a group-chat caption. "Dave has left the flavor dimension" went up first, a nod to Crazy Dave, the saucepan-hatted neighbor who has been selling plants to players since PopCap's 2009 original. Then came "he flew 💀" and, on October 2, "bro was one minute from freedom."
"he flew 💀" is the most watched of the three, past 25,000 views, and its comments explain why. The short mixes the studio's own plushies with someone in a full Peashooter costume, and viewers can't decide which detail is better. Several say they now want that costume, a few have already settled on a Peashooter for Halloween, and one is pleased the official channel acknowledged the outfits at all, having assumed they were knockoffs. A running question: was the zombie biting the Peashooter, or kissing him? A plushie apparently named Bartholomew gets a fan club of his own, and one viewer pitches a whole new plant, then admits halfway down that it is a bad idea.
The newest short, "bro was one minute from freedom," is drawing the most daily views in its first hours, and the Crazy Dave gag has cooled to a trickle.
The channel is a little calmer than usual overall, with its daily views below their normal level, though it still added about 10,000 subscribers. Among game publisher and esports channels near its size, VALORANT Champions Tour and Zenless Zone Zero are having the loud weeks, while The Sims gathered about the same number of views as the garden did.

What viewers say
One of these days, I'm buying myself that Peashooter costume.
@thebucketheadgamingSee it on YouTubeI don't know what's cooler. Seeing PvZ utilise their own plushies in a short or seeing them use that Peashooter costume. I still don't know how anyone's supposed to take it seriously.
