Jimmy Oakes is asking for just a little more. The dyno screen is tantalizingly close to the horsepower figure he wants, and he isn't pretending the milestone doesn't matter: "I want to say I have an 800-horsepower R34 GT-R, all right?"
He gets his wish. Freddy's tuning session at Garage Zero takes the Bayside Blue Nissan past that mark on ethanol, with Tommy and the shop crew sharing the occasion. But the useful detail isn't only the peak: Freddy points out a broad powerband, while Jimmy singles out the mid-range gains from the HKS V-CAM variable intake timing system.
There is a very garage-project interruption along the way. An intake coupler tears open under boost, and Jimmy realizes he left a mockup part installed. A replacement gets the session moving again. By the end, power steering has joined the repair list, alongside alignment, interior work and aero pieces.
The channel's two uploads make a satisfying pair: "My R34 GTR IS FINALLY TOGETHER!! " followed by "My R34 GTR BLOWS US away on the DYNO!" The latter has reached nearly 200,000 views and is comfortably the channel's busiest video right now. The assembly episode and "OFFICIALLY bringing a car to SEMA! " supply smaller streams of viewing behind it.
Overall viewing is close to Jimmy's usual daily level, and subscribers were unchanged over the week. Among nearby motoring channels, High Peak Autos and Royalty Auto Service had particularly busy weeks. Under Jimmy's dyno video, meanwhile, viewers are already proposing a Florida driving trip and asking when the RX-7 build gets its turn.
