Jenna Lu's group costume standoff, and a comment section full of answers

Her short about friends who are 'never gonna agree on anything' turned its replies into a brainstorm, with the Princess and the Pea, the Sanderson sisters and Alvin and the Chipmunks all on the table.

never gonna agree on anything 🎃 #halloweencostume #costumeideas #relateable #groupcostume #comedy

Anyone who has tried to plan a group Halloween costume knows how it goes: one person wants a movie trio, another wants something nobody else has heard of, and October keeps getting shorter. Jenna Lu built her latest short around exactly that, and called it "never gonna agree on anything."

It passed 400,000 views in a little over a day. A new short on her channel usually opens at around 26,000, and the comments arrived about five times faster than on a usual first day.

Those comments are less a reaction than a planning meeting. The most liked one is a long numbered list of group ideas, from the Sanderson sisters of Hocus Pocus to the Wizard of Oz gang. Others pitch Totally Spies, Charlie's Angels, Monster High, the Heathers and Alvin and the Chipmunks. Many keep returning to the Princess and the Pea, and to who would be stuck playing the pea, which at least one viewer is happy to volunteer for.

The costume season runs all through her recent uploads. The day after this one she posted a short about two friends who can't both be Draculaura, the Monster High vampire, and just before it she marked October 3 with a Mean Girls short. In between came a longer video of Pinterest crafts, with homemade jewelry and a faux sequin chandelier.

The group costume short is the one that traveled. The channel as a whole had a slower day than usual, which leaves this one carrying it on its own.
