Three Hysteria episodes on the Cornell 7 case, one with Barrett Adair

Erin Ryan returned to the sexual assault case with a different guest each time, and the October 3 conversation passed 100,000 views.

Why this story? The channel's weekly summary: what went up this week, what is drawing views now, and where the channel stands among similar channels.

Erin Ryan kept coming back to the same story. Of the twelve uploads Hysteria posted over the past seven days, the ones drawing the largest audiences were all about the Cornell 7 case. That is the sexual assault case tied to a fraternity house at the university, and it has drawn wide attention.

The first came inside the regular October 1 episode. Ryan and KQED's Marisa Lagos worked through Democratic polling and California politics, then turned to the case. Labor economist Kathryn Anne Edwards followed with a segment on the job market and the AI bubble. On October 3, content creator Barrett Adair joined Ryan for a conversation about new evidence and whether justice will be served. With more than 100,000 views, it is the week's most watched upload. Two days later, Nikita Redkar sat down for a third episode, titled as showing more leaked evidence, and as we reported here, it started fast. It is still the channel's busiest video right now.

The comments under the Adair episode read less like reactions to a podcast and more like testimony. Older viewers write about what happened at their own colleges decades ago. Others question why serious crimes get reported to a school at all, and many men write about speaking up when friends cross a line.

The channel as a whole has been running well above its usual daily pace, while the subscriber count held at 567,000. Among political commentary channels of similar size, it is a busy stretch for Harry Sisson and for The Ezra Klein Show, which added about 7,000 subscribers.
