- 8:02The promised firing remarks arrive: Trump expects personnel changes but declines to identify anyone.
"I'll be doing maybe a few changes. I don't want to mention who," Donald Trump says in a 60 Minutes excerpt featured in CNN's post-election coverage. Asked whether he expects firings, his answer is brief: "I do."
That warning adds something beyond the White House change already announced: Susie Wiles has resigned as chief of staff, and Stephen Miller is replacing her. Trump is signaling that the personnel changes may not stop there, without identifying another official whose job is at risk.
The new Erin Burnett OutFront segment drew about a million views in its first 16 hours. It combines Trump's remarks at Kennedy Space Center, correspondent Julia Benbrook's reporting from the site and a panel examining what Miller's appointment suggests about the administration's response to Republican losses.
Burnett also puts two Trump statements side by side. At his post-election appearance, he says, "By the way, I was not on the ballot, just in case you had any question." Earlier rally footage shows him urging supporters: "Pretend I'm on the ballot."
The panel's interpretation is that the staffing change points toward confrontation rather than compromise. Independent Americans host Paul Rieckhoff describes Trump as narrowing his circle, while former Trump deputy press secretary Sarah Matthews argues that Miller's hardline immigration stance is a political liability. Burnett supplies an electoral development alongside those assessments: CNN reports Democrat Nancy LaCore defeating Republican Jenny Costa Honeycutt in South Carolina's 1st District.
