Fresh flight hoaxes spread from Prague to Rome
ITV News reports another wave of threats across Europe, with no suspicious devices found and no official attribution.
Why this story? The video opened at a pace of 99,014 views a day, 13 times a normal first day on this channel (7,766).
More bomb threats hit flights in Europe
Flights serving Prague, Copenhagen, Sofia and Rome were affected by fresh bomb threats on 6 November, extending a week of hoaxes across European aviation, ITV News reports.
The broadcaster's Short, "More bomb threats hit flights in Europe", says at least a dozen new threats had been reported by lunchtime. No suspicious items were found and no one was injured in the cases covered.
The report drew roughly 71,000 views in its opening thirteen hours, far above ITV News's usual first-day audience for Shorts.
Much of the report turns on the distinction between possible explanations and established evidence. It outlines theories about who might be responsible, but the narrator states: "But authorities have not attributed the threats to any group, and no evidence has emerged linking the hoaxes to a government."
ITV's closing point is about the concentration of incidents: airlines regularly receive false bomb threats, the narrator explains, but so many arriving within such a short period is highly unusual.

The numbers
The flight-threat report is drawing views far faster than ITV News's usual Shorts. Its first-day estimate is based on the opening thirteen hours, not a completed day.
