Hydra's Bugatti Bolide joke hinges on a zip tie
A close-up of an ordinary-looking fastener on an extraordinary track car has viewers joking about the replacement bill.
Why this story? The video opened at a pace of 142,044 views a day, 10 times a normal first day on this channel (13,972).
From a $2,000 crap car to a $5M Bugatti Bolide, never underestimate the power of a zip tie 😂😭
What is a zip tie doing inside a Bugatti Bolide? In Hydra's Short, the fairly unglamorous job of securing a line to a metal bracket. The camera pulls back from the black fastener, past the mechanical components and blue bodywork, until the full rear of the track car fills the shot.
That tiny detail has drawn roughly 118,000 views in 16 hours, putting the Short on course for about ten times Hydra's usual first-day audience for the format. The footage, credited to @kikiscars_ on Instagram, finds its joke in the contrast between an exotic machine and a familiar garage staple.
Hydra frames it as a multimillion-dollar car being held together by a cheap zip tie. What the clip actually shows is more modest: a fastener doing a specific job, not a roadside repair or a broken Bugatti being rescued.
Viewers are extending the joke into imaginary luxury-car service bills. Others wonder whether the tie is made of carbon fiber, something the footage does not establish. The most useful distinction is also the simplest: an expensive car can still have a perfectly ordinary-looking solution tucked among its intricate parts.
