Guns, homelessness and a Canadian guest on Bill Maher's stage for Clinton Jaws
A ten-day-old Judge Judy clip from The View has crossed a million views, while a Sunny Hostin apology rounds out a two-upload week.
Why this story? The channel's weekly summary: what went up this week, what is drawing views now, and where the channel stands among similar channels.
Crowd Roars as Bill Maher Puts Canadian Liberal In His Place With Truth Bombs!
Clinton Jaws is a clips channel. Its about page belongs to a retired RCMP officer with a focus on American and Canadian politics, but this week's material came from American television: a Bill Maher panel and The View.
The bigger of the two new uploads, "Crowd Roars as Bill Maher Puts Canadian Liberal In His Place With Truth Bombs!", drew more than 320,000 views in its first day. Its description adds a CNN host to the scene. The title never names the Canadian guest, though many commenters take him to be Malcolm Gladwell. Most of the conversation under the clip is about two subjects, gun violence and what cities spend on homelessness. A smaller thread has nothing to do with policy and mostly discusses the guest's haircut.
The second upload, "The View Audience Backlash FORCES Sunny Hostin To Apologize - This Is Priceless", went up two days earlier and has settled into a slower pace. The Judge Judy clip from The View, posted ten days ago, has now passed a million views.
With the Maher clip doing most of the work, the channel is running well above its usual daily views, and it added about 2,000 subscribers over the seven days. Among similar political channels, Neil Sean's daily headlines drew the most views by a wide margin, and Harry Sisson and Dave Jorgenson also ran ahead of their usual pace. Ezra Klein's show was a little below its own.
