Beef or horse? Big Nibbles makes both lasagnes

An identical-ingredient taste test revisits the horsemeat scandal, alongside a new Andy Burnham pub upload.

Why this story? The channel's weekly summary: what went up this week, what is drawing views now, and where the channel stands among similar channels.

Two plates, the same ingredients, and a different animal in each: Big Nibbles makes the week's biggest upload a surprisingly straightforward cooking comparison. "Horsemeat Lasagne" has reached roughly 670,000 views, comfortably the most watched of his two new videos.

He starts with the familiar beef version before grinding packaged horse steaks into mince for the second. Finding horse meat suitable for human consumption in the UK was difficult, he says. Once cooked, the difference is less dramatic than the shopping list: he notices a finer texture in the mince he ground himself, but says, "I can't really taste that much of a difference."

The experiment references the 2013 horsemeat scandal, which he frames around deception rather than whether horse meat is edible. Viewers return to that distinction too, discussing accurate labelling and raising questions about the meat's origins and traceability. The conversation goes well beyond which lasagne tastes better.

"Prime Minister Pubs | Andy Burnham" completes the new-upload pair, drawing a smaller audience. Meanwhile, school dinners remain a substantial part of the channel's momentum: "Did Jamie Oliver Ruin School Lunch?" is adding views almost as quickly as the lasagne, with "Did Michelle Obama Ruin School Lunches?" also among the busiest uploads.

Big Nibbles added about 10,000 subscribers over the week, although daily views are currently well below their usual level. Among nearby food channels, Ahmad Noori and Steve | The Vivaldi Way had larger weekly view gains; Big Nibbles nevertheless brought in more weekly views than most of that group, with school trays and the two lasagnes both contributing.
