Tomato gravy, sausage gravy and an Italian flag: Big Nibbles' 'Red, White and Green Gravy'
After a week spent wrestling in gravy, his new short sent Southern viewers into the comments to explain how tomato gravy is really made.
Why this story? The video opened at a pace of 332,127 views a day, 13 times a normal first day on this channel (25,292).
Red, White and Green Gravy
"Red, White and Green Gravy" puts three colored gravies side by side, and viewers saw the flag before they saw the food. The most liked comment under the new Big Nibbles short simply notes that Italian flag gravy has finally happened. The runner-up is a deadpan fake history about a chef, a crown princess and a career that ended at dinner.
The white one is sausage gravy, the American breakfast staple, and he seems to have enjoyed it. The red one started the real conversation. Commenters from the American South say tomato gravy does exist, though it is a niche dish. In their telling it starts from flour and milk like sausage gravy, gets its tomatoes after that, comes out pale red rather than sauce-bright, and is eaten over biscuits and nowhere else. Others brought their own suggestions: chorizo in the sausage gravy, Frankfurt's herby green sauce, onion gravy, and one hopeful vote for a grey "grey-vy."
It caps a very gravy-heavy week. As we reported here, Big Nibbles entered the World Gravy Wrestling Championship as "The Barfly," and he followed it with "1500 Litres of Wrestling Gravy" and a short asking what the wrestling gravy tastes like. The flag short passed 300,000 views within its first 20 hours, and its comments arrived about sixteen times faster than on one of his usual shorts. "Death Row Meals | USA," posted a day earlier, also ran well ahead of a normal start.
A few viewers call this the calmest video they have seen from him, which is quite a remark about a channel that bills its creator as "The Worlds Most Unhinged Food Creator."

Italian flag gravy, never thought I'd see the day
@the_silent_ech021See it on YouTubeNot a lot of people know this, but the red white and green gravy combination was invented by an Italian chef trying to impress the crown princess. He made gravies in the colours of the Italian flag and served them on dumplings.
He never worked again.@cjackmansonSee it on YouTubeWhy no grey gravy...Grey-vy?
