Split the G at the Palace Bar: Gareth Leonard's Dublin day passes two million

No new uploads went up, so an 80-day-old solo pub crawl through the Irish capital and a day behind the counter at Mr. Beef carried the travel channel.

Why this story? The channel's weekly summary: what went up this week, what is drawing views now, and where the channel stands among similar channels.

Gareth Leonard took the week off from posting, and his channel slowed to roughly half its usual daily pace. It still added close to 300,000 views, and the video doing most of that work is almost three months old.

"I Tried Eating & Drinking Alone in Dublin, Ireland" has passed two million views. It is a full day in the Irish capital: a traditional breakfast, a lesson in splitting the G with a Guinness at the Palace Bar from its third-generation owner, the Jameson distillery on Bow Street, a pint he poured himself at Sheehan's, the Victorian Long Hall, a first spice bag from Xi'an Street Food, and a night of traditional music and an impromptu dance lesson at The Cobblestone. It fits the way he describes himself: an American who has spent more than fifteen years on slow, solo travel.

Chicago supplies the other two videos people are still finding. His taco tour through Pilsen and Little Village, posted 17 days ago, stops at five spots from Carnitas Uruapan to Asian Cuisine Express, a twist the description leaves for the viewer. And his day inside Mr. Beef, the Italian beef stand that inspired FX's The Bear, has passed a million and a half views, following the shop from early morning prep through the lunch rush.

Among the food channels close to his size, Sam Jose is having the loudest week by far, while Outdoor Chef Life, like Gareth, ran calmer than usual and gained a similar thousand subscribers.
