A little helper and a giant loaf: sweet bread's 14-million-view short

Two weeks after it went up, the helper video is still the one carrying a bakery channel that posted a tandoor loaf, a flower bread and a one-minute bake.

Why this story? The channel's weekly summary: what went up this week, what is drawing views now, and where the channel stands among similar channels.

Fourteen million views and counting: "My Little Helper Made This Giant Bread Possible!" is two weeks old and still pulling in around half a million a day, which on its own is more than everything else on sweet bread put together. The title credits a little helper with making the giant loaf possible, and that is exactly the kind of homey promise this channel trades on.

Three new shorts went up beside it. The flower bread, billed as too beautiful to eat, started gently. The tandoor loaf did better, but the one with real legs is "1 minute amazing bread," which passed 50,000 views on its first day. Its comment section reads like a small world map, with praise in Persian, Russian, Turkish, Romanian and Spanish, plus one viewer asking, with some alarm, why the loaves appear to be on the ceiling. Not everyone is charmed: one Russian commenter pleads with the baker to stop tormenting the dough.

The channel as a whole is running well below its usual pace right now, a reminder of how much a big hit lifts the ordinary days around it. Still, about a thousand new subscribers a day are arriving, nudging it toward 900,000.

Among cooking channels of a similar size, Sam Jose is having the standout week, and Antojitos LindaMar and Caked by Rach are both running above their usual. For sweet bread, the giant loaf and its helper are still doing the heavy lifting.
