Gareth Leonard goes from Mr. Beef's counter to apartment pizza
His channel is drawing nearly seven times its usual daily views as the San Diego home-pizza visit approaches two million.
Why this story? The whole channel is running at 767,911 views a day, 6.7 times a normal day (114,236).
This Guy Makes Pizza at Home and has a 3,500 Person Wait List
Gareth Leonard has spent recent uploads exploring Chicago's taquerias, street food and sandwich counters. His latest food stop is considerably smaller: a shared San Diego apartment where a pizza maker works with a normal home oven.
The channel has added about 770,000 views in a day, a sharp jump from its usual pace. The apartment-pizza video is a prominent part of that moment, though the channel-wide rise cannot be attributed to that upload alone.
As we reported here, the attraction is an unusually small operation with a long waiting list. Leonard's description says the maker holds two pop-ups a week, selling just twenty pizzas each day. The visit also takes in a California burrito and a stop with fellow San Diego pizza enthusiast Sam the Dough Guy.
That home-kitchen visit has already accumulated more views than Leonard's August documentary inside Mr. Beef, the Chicago restaurant that inspired The Bear. The settings could hardly be more different: an established sandwich institution preparing for its lunch rush, and an apartment operation making New York-style pizza in small batches. Both put the work behind the food at the center of Leonard's visit.
