The tan suit, explained to Larry David, keeps Barack Obama's channel busy

His appearance in the finale of Life, Larry and the Pursuit of Unhappiness has passed three million views, nearly two months after it went up.

Why this story? The channel's weekly summary: what went up this week, what is drawing views now, and where the channel stands among similar channels.

No new uploads, still busy. Barack Obama posted nothing over the past seven days, and his channel ran well above its ordinary pace anyway, at more than twice its usual daily views.

Most of the work is being done by a clip from late summer: "The Obama Tan Suit | Season Finale of Life, Larry and the Pursuit of Unhappiness." The description sets it up as the moment the truth about the tan suit finally comes out, a nod to the beige jacket he wore to a 2014 White House briefing that somehow became one of the most talked-about outfits of his presidency. The setting is the finale of Larry David's HBO series, and the clip has now passed three million views, still drawing far more each day than anything else on the channel.

Further back sits a gentler video: Obama giving his sister Maya a preview of the Obama Presidential Center in Chicago, including a sculpture by Maya Lin dedicated to their mother, Ann Dunham. It crossed a million views some time ago and keeps a quiet, steady audience.

The newest thing in the mix is a trailer for A Great Book with Barack Obama, his Audible podcast from Higher Ground, in which he picked six books that stayed with him and invited friends to talk them over, from faith and fatherhood to race and growing up.

Among political channels of a similar size, the louder weeks belonged to Rep. Joe Neguse and The Democrats, while Pete Buttigieg's channel also ran far above its usual. Obama's sits in the middle of that company, with a few thousand new subscribers to show for a week of not posting at all.
