Amazon MGM Studios has brought back a gunfight with an unexpected piece of equipment: a chair. In its clip from Wild Bill (1995), Jeff Bridges's lawman responds to an armed challenger in a wheelchair by having himself tied to a seat and carried outside.

It's an elaborate way to even the odds, and a particularly dry introduction to director Walter Hill's western. Will Plummer, played by Bruce Dern, has been shouting for Hickok from the street. Inside the saloon, Hickok loads his revolvers before arranging his seated entrance. His English-accented companion offers good wishes, then retreats to the bar.

The scene drew nearly 60,000 views in its first eight hours, a much faster start than the channel's usual regular upload. It arrives alongside other Wild Bill excerpts, including a saloon showdown and a warning about touching another man's hat.

Deadwood is already coming up in the comments, with one viewer joking that this is what Wild Bill did before reaching the town. There's a genuine casting connection, though not a shared storyline: Keith Carradine, who appears in Hill's film, later played Hickok in HBO's Deadwood. Here, Bridges wears the hat.

The clip also steps back into black and white to explain Plummer's grievance before returning to the street. This isn't simply a stranger calling out a famous gunman: the two have unfinished history.
