'Rock Bottom', Alex the Rambler's honest update, keeps finding listeners

The five-week-old video explaining his silence on YouTube and Twitch has passed 350,000 views, with a Hearts of Iron IV Siam run from June still ticking along behind it.

Why this story? The channel's weekly summary: what went up this week, what is drawing views now, and where the channel stands among similar channels.

Rock BottomRock Bottom

A usual day on Alex the Rambler's channel brings in around 4,000 views. Lately it has been closer to 3,000, which fits a week with no new uploads at all.

What people are still opening is "Rock Bottom", posted 37 days ago. It is not a strategy game video but a personal update: the description sets out to explain where he went after a stretch of silence on YouTube and Twitch, and promises a return to strategy games and, in his own words, the usual incompetent gameplay. It has passed 350,000 views and is gathering several times more each day than anything else on the channel.

Behind it, the Hearts of Iron IV shelf keeps a low hum. A short asking whether one debuff is the worst in the game is nearing 90,000 views, and "Siam has a BIG problem In Thunder At Our Gates (New HOI4 dlc)" is his hands-on look at the expansion's Siam focus tree, the kind of one-off his about line says he now prefers to long let's plays.

Subscribers held at 432,000. Among the strategy and role-playing channels near his size, almost everyone is running under their usual pace, from Hazzor to Preach Gaming, while Xaryu remains the busy one by a wide margin. Alex added the fewest views of the group over the week, which is what a pause looks like on a channel whose best-watched recent video is about taking one.
