Wu Yize, Shenzhen Open champion, and Shaun Murphy's decider déjà vu

The world champion beat Murphy, Judd Trump and Yuan Sijun on his way to the title in the tournament's first year in Shenzhen.

Why this story? The channel's weekly summary: what went up this week, what is drawing views now, and where the channel stands among similar channels.

UNRELENTING DRAMA! 🙀 | Wu Yize and Shaun Murphy Deja-Vu In Shenzhen!UNRELENTING DRAMA! 🙀 | Wu Yize and Shaun Murphy Deja-Vu In Shenzhen!

WST normally runs at a busy clip, and this time it ran a little under that, which is not unusual for a channel between tournaments. What it had was one name. Wu Yize won the Shenzhen Open, held in the southern Chinese city for the first time, and nearly every upload of the week followed his road there.

The road went through Shaun Murphy, again. "UNRELENTING DRAMA! 🙀 | Wu Yize and Shaun Murphy Deja-Vu In Shenzhen!" became the week's most watched upload, at around 220,000 views, and the title's déjà vu is the point: Wu beat Murphy in another final-frame decider. Viewers keep counting them, and plenty remember the red Wu played from the cushion late at night at the World Championship. One commenter, writing as a Chinese fan, says it feels like a score settled after years of watching Ding Junhui lose to Murphy. The channel leaned in with "ALL FOUR DECIDERS IN FULL! 😱", which collects every one of their tight finishes from the past year.

After Murphy came Judd Trump in a semi-final billed as an unexpected scoreline, then Yuan Sijun in the final, after Yuan had survived a decider of his own against Jimmy Robertson. The final's highlights, titled "RUTHLESS CHAMPION!", are still pulling in viewers two days on.

The freshest clip is a short asking whether Alex Higgins or the new Shenzhen king did a shot better, and it is the channel's quickest-moving video right now. Among the sports channels near its size, only DP World Tour added more views over the week.
