Big Bud 700 goes to work, and viewers say it was worth it
After a rebuild that leaned on Titan Tires, Demco and a list of other suppliers, the 700-horsepower tractor finally pulled through a Montana harvest.
Why this story? The channel's weekly summary: what went up this week, what is drawing views now, and where the channel stands among similar channels.
Was This 700HP Monster BIG BUD Worth It?!?
The Bud earned its keep. Welker Farms spent September putting its 700-horsepower Big Bud back together, and the two weeks since have been about finding out whether all that work paid off.
"The Return of 700HP Monster BIG BUD!!" went up nine days ago and is still the channel's busiest video. Its description promises a machine fit for thousands of hours. On October 1 came the follow-up, "Was This 700HP Monster BIG BUD Worth It?!?", with the tractor out in the field at harvest and a thank-you list in the description that runs from Titan Tires and Demco to Logan Clutch and CleanFix. That one passed a quarter of a million views, and the comment section has more or less answered the title's question. The talk is about owning old iron that no software can lock you out of. One viewer wants the oil in the new drive chain compartment changed early, and plenty point out that the crop finally looks better than it has in a few dry years. Others simply wonder how proud Bob must be, watching Nick and Scott run the family farm together.
A second upload, "Harvesting in a STORM Across the Interstate!!", arrived Monday and drew well over 60,000 views in its first five hours.
The channel as a whole is running a little below its usual daily pace, and about a thousand new subscribers came in over the week. Among the outdoors and homesteading channels close to its size, though, none of those with a full week to compare gained more views, nearly a million in seven days.
