A robotic air rifle goes hunting, and Blocketh's channel keeps humming
The 19-day-old test of an electronics-packed air rifle is closing in on 850,000 views, with a Wisconsin River island survival video past a million and a half.
Why this story? The channel's weekly summary: what went up this week, what is drawing views now, and where the channel stands among similar channels.
I Hunted with a Robotic Rifle!
What do Blocketh Outdoors viewers watch when nothing new goes up? Mostly a rifle that the description says feels robotic: an air rifle full of electronic controls and adjustable settings, taken into the field to see whether all that technology can actually hunt.
"I Hunted with a Robotic Rifle!" is the busiest thing on the channel right now, nearing 850,000 views. Close behind it in daily pull is "Eating Only What I Hunt for 24 Hours!", the 12-day-old challenge with no grocery store and no backup food, where dinner depends on finding something legal to hunt and bringing it home.
The third is older and bigger. "I Survived 24 Hours on a Tiny Island" went up 50 days ago, a night camped on a speck of land in the Wisconsin River with rain storms, strong currents and whatever fish could be caught. It has passed a million and a half views and is still finding people at almost the same daily rate as the two newer videos.
The result is a channel running a little above its usual pace without a single new upload, still adding about a thousand subscribers a day toward 670,000. That stands out among the outdoors and homesteading channels close to its size, where Farmhouse on Boone, Anne of All Trades and DO Animals are all well below their usual daily views. Canada in the Rough is the other one running ahead of its norm, and Ethan Heinrichs still draws far more views a day than anyone else in the group.
