Cats in hooded capes still bring ThePurrfectFlex about 2,000 subscribers a day
The costume channel reached 186,000 even as its weekly gain fell well short of the usual, and its slasher cat from October 2 is still the busiest of its new shorts.
Why this story? The channel went from 159,000 to 186,000 subscribers this week.
How many people are still signing up to watch cats and dogs in costumes? On ThePurrfectFlex, about 2,000 a day. The last seven days brought 27,000 new subscribers and took the channel to 186,000, so roughly one in seven of them arrived within the week.
For most channels this size, that would be a remarkable week. For this one, it is a slower one. Its weekly gains have usually run several times higher, and the seven days to October 3 had added 48,000, as we reported here. Daily views have also dropped well below their usual level.
What keeps people arriving is a closet of costumes with names. Purrfect Slasher is the horror outfit, which its description pitches to cat moms who love Halloween. GatorPaws turns a dog into an alligator. Two shorts simply show a pet trying "the Purrfect Flex pet accessory" and are tagged for Attack on Titan fans, in line with the about text's promise of watchful cloaks and hooded scout capes.
Among the October shorts, the slasher cat is far ahead of the rest, past 400,000 views in four days, while the alligator dog and the two accessory shorts sit in the tens of thousands. Even in a slower week, a small cat in a horror costume is still doing most of the work.
