A blanket reveal for cat dads lands on a calmer week at ThePurrfectFlex
The costume channel still gained 32,000 subscribers in seven days, though its newest short, a spooky surprise under a blanket, is off to a slow start.
Why this story? The channel went from 152,000 to 184,000 subscribers this week.
On an ordinary day, ThePurrfectFlex's cats and dogs in capes, cloaks and creature suits pull in a flood of views. The latest day brought well under a third of that usual flood. It was still a crowd most pet channels would envy, but it was a quieter turn for this one.
The subscriber count has eased too. Over the past seven days, 32,000 people joined, fewer than the 48,000 in the week we described on Saturday, as we reported here. Even so, more than a fifth of the channel's 184,000 subscribers arrived within that one week.
The newest short has the gentlest start of the recent batch. "DON'T let a cat dad see what's under the blanket 🎃🐱" went up on Saturday, promising "the funniest surprise hiding under the blanket" for every cat dad and cat mom. Its tags lean on slasher costumes and spooky-season cats, and two days in it has only a few thousand views.
Among the recent uploads, the one still doing the work is Friday's "Purrfect Slasher in a playful cat reveal", a cat in a horror-movie costume billed as instant spooky-season chaos. It has gathered roughly ten times the views of either of the two Attack on Titan cape shorts posted the same day, and it has comfortably outpaced the dog in the alligator suit as well.
The channel's oddest feature is its arithmetic: more than 300 million views in total, and fewer than 200,000 subscribers. Perhaps most people who meet a cat in a hooded scout cape simply watch, smile and scroll on? The about text sums up the whole idea in one line: your pet deserves to be flexed. On Friday alone, at least four new costume shorts went up to prove it.
