Steve the python, a pink toy elephant and a full recovery at Australia Zoo
Robert Irwin's crocodile research video and a thank-you to the zookeepers opened CROCtober on the Irwin family's channel.

Steve the python and the pink elephant have both made a full recovery 🙏
"Steve the python and the pink elephant have both made a full recovery" is exactly the kind of happy ending a zoo likes to post. The title and the comments tell the story: a python swallowed a dog's pink toy elephant, and the snake, which shares a name with Steve Irwin, came through it. It was the most watched of four uploads on Australia Zoo's official channel, with more than 50,000 views.
The comments are a mix of get-well wishes and gentle teasing. Several viewers scold the "naughty" snake, one hopes it has learned its lesson, and another feels sorry for the dog, who seems to have lost a favorite toy. A few bring up Steve Irwin himself, picturing him proud of the work his family and staff carry on.
Then came October, which the zoo calls CROCtober. A short trailer announced it, and "Researching Crocodiles with Robert Irwin" followed on the same day, the son of the Crocodile Hunter doing the family's oldest job. That research video is the one moving fastest now, ahead of a quick thank-you to the zookeepers posted on Saturday.
The channel ran a little below its usual pace, and the subscriber count did not move. Among the animal channels of a similar size, Pawesome Ranks had the big week, while Australia Zoo stayed one of the quieter ones.
