Survey Corps capes, tiny slashers and 48,000 new subscribers for ThePurrfectFlex
The pet-costume channel grew by more than a third in seven days, even though its daily views are running lighter than usual.
Why this story? The channel went from 131,000 to 179,000 subscribers this week.
ThePurrfectFlex puts cats and dogs in costumes every day, and the last seven days added 48,000 subscribers. The channel now stands at 179,000, more than a third bigger than it was a week ago.
That would make for a remarkable week almost anywhere. Here it counts as a calmer one. The channel's daily views are still in the millions, but well below what it usually draws, and the week's subscriber gain is smaller than it normally manages. For most channels with 179,000 subscribers, a day like any of these would be the best of the year. For this one, it is a slower stretch.
The newest uploads have already turned to October. Two shorts dress cats as horror villains: the Purrfect Slasher, and the Purrfect Cutter, which its description bills as turning a cat into "a tiny Halloween slasher." A dog gets the GatorPaws alligator suit and a reveal. Each of these sits in the tens of thousands of views, a small slice of a day measured in millions. Perhaps older shorts are still doing the heavy lifting, like last Sunday's dog-mom warning, which passed nearly 200,000 views in its first day, as we reported here.
Two more of the new shorts carry tags for Attack on Titan fans, with Eren Yeager, Levi and Mikasa Ackerman among the search words. That fits the channel's own pitch, which leads with "hooded scout capes" before it gets to the cats and dogs. In Hajime Isayama's story, the Survey Corps are the soldiers who ride out beyond the walls in hooded green cloaks, a look ThePurrfectFlex has built a whole wardrobe around.
Among pet channels of about the same size, Arthur & Korra is also having a busy stretch, at roughly twice its usual daily views.
