The groundhog almost went unnoticed. "This Groundhog Gets Burritos Delivered to His Door" went up on September 27 and spent its first day as the quietest of the week's big three, with a little over 20,000 views. Six days later it has passed a million, and it is now gathering views faster than anything else on the channel.
It had company. Brighter Paws posted thirteen videos in seven days, and two others also crossed the million mark: "Bell Pepper Beats Every Alarm Clock" and "Try Explaining This Elk to Your Insurance Company," the second of the channel's elk videos, as we reported here. The elk is the one viewers are talking about. A bull walks up to a car and breaks a window with its antlers, and the comment section keeps asking the same question: why did nobody in the car just drive away? Others turn it into a lesson, pointing out how hard car glass is to break and how foolish it is to get close to a rutting bull for a photo.
All of it added up to a big week. The channel is drawing more than twice its usual daily views, and the week brought in over 22 million. Among the animal channels close to its size, that puts Brighter Paws third, behind Sassy and Sierra Rose, both having enormous weeks of their own, while CatAleah and Hang are also running well above their usual pace.
The channel's about text promises animals that are beautiful, brutal and unpredictable. This week, the brutal one got the comments and the one waiting for burritos got the views.
