Brighter Paws' second elk video in three days leaves the first far behind
Seventeen hours after it went up, 'Try Explaining This Elk to Your Insurance Company' had about four times the views of the channel's earlier elk warning, and the comments are all about a car that never drove off.
Why this story? The video opened at a pace of 409,418 views a day, 14 times a normal first day on this channel (29,540).
Try Explaining This Elk to Your Insurance Company
The elk came back. Two days after Brighter Paws posted "That Elk Photo Can Wait," a title that already reads like a warning, the channel returned to the same animal with "Try Explaining This Elk to Your Insurance Company." This time the crowd showed up at once. Seventeen hours in, the new video had passed 350,000 views, roughly fourteen times what an upload here usually draws in its whole first day.
There is no description to go on, but the comments sketch the scene: a bull elk, a car, and a side window that does not make it. The most liked comment asks why nobody tried the accelerator. Another notes that the car seemed to slow down as the bull came at it and only sped up once the glass was gone. A longer thread treats the clip as a lesson. Car windows are hard to break, those viewers point out, so this one shows what a bull's antlers can do, and why walking up to one for a photo is a bad idea.
The timing fits the animal. Late September is the heart of the elk rut, when bulls bugle, gather their cows and become far less patient with anything that comes near, cars included. Several commenters say exactly that. One jokes that the driver was caught eyeing the bull's cow.
The channel's about text promises nature that is "beautiful, brutal, and absolutely unpredictable," and most of its recent uploads sit at the gentle end of that: a basset hound billed as "professionally unbothered," a pet whose wig was fine but whose snack was off limits, bears apparently taking up sourdough. The elk is the brutal end, and it is carrying the week. Across all its videos, Brighter Paws is drawing fewer daily views than usual, yet this one clip is bringing in about a fifth of them. Next to a basset hound famous for not reacting to anything, it is the elk that drew the crowd.

What viewers say
Most of us have seen video of people trying to break car windows including law-enforcement. It’s not easy. This gives you an idea how powerful a bull elk is, and how deadly those antlers are. Also how crazy it is to approach one of those hoping for a photo😖
