Business cards, a chainsaw and Bateman's final breakdown: American Psycho takes over The Midnight Horror Society

The clips channel cut Mary Harron's 2000 film into scene after scene, and the closing monologue passed 60,000 views in three days.

Why this story? The channel's weekly summary: what went up this week, what is drawing views now, and where the channel stands among similar channels.

The Midnight Horror Society spent much of its week in Patrick Bateman's Manhattan. Fifteen clips went up, and the ones drawing the crowd all come from American Psycho, Mary Harron's 2000 adaptation of the Bret Easton Ellis novel, with Christian Bale as the investment banker who hides a killer behind a skincare routine.

The channel worked through the film's best-known moments: the business card showdown, where Paul Allen's subtle off-white stock sends Bateman into a cold sweat, the apartment evening in front of the mirror, and the naked chainsaw chase down the stairwell. The clip with the most pull is the ending. In "Patrick Bateman's Mind-Bending Final Breakdown," Bateman sits among his oblivious colleagues and realizes he will never be punished. It passed 60,000 views in three days and is gathering more each day than any of the other new clips.

Its comment section is half quotes and half theories. Paul Allen jokes arrive in the film's own deadpan, someone calls it one of the strangest endings ever made, and a few viewers take another run at the old question of how much of Bateman's story really happened. Others are busy with Bale himself, from Batman puns to people who hear a little Jim Carrey in the performance.

Amid the yuppies, the channel also cut Stallone's command-center finale from Rambo: First Blood Part II and an interview from the Midsummer Scream convention with Darren Smith, co-writer of the 2008 cult rock opera Repo! The Genetic Opera, on why the team ignored some hints from its producers.

The subscriber count held at 468,000. Among similar movie-clip channels, Movie House is running ahead of its usual pace, while most of the others close in size are quieter than normal.
