Calm Dom: The Golden Compass returns as a relaxed Lost in Adaptation
Dominic Noble rewrote much of his five-year-old script for a slower, sleep-friendly pilot, and the comment section answered his question about whether to make more.
Why this story? The channel's weekly summary: what went up this week, what is drawing views now, and where the channel stands among similar channels.
The Golden Compass ~ Lost in Adaptation (Relaxed Edition)
Dominic Noble has tried something new. For years, he writes in the description, people have told him they put his videos on to relax or fall asleep, which surprised him, since he never thought of his reviews as gentle. So he remade an old favorite for exactly that purpose: "The Golden Compass ~ Lost in Adaptation (Relaxed Edition)", a slower, chiller comparison of the 2007 film with Philip Pullman's Northern Lights. Not quite ASMR, he says, just intentionally calmer. He also admits he rewrote more of the script than he planned, because people change a lot in five years.
A short teaser called "Lost in Relaxation" went up the day before, and the pilot itself passed 120,000 views in under a week. The most liked comment is Dom's own, asking whether the format is worth continuing, and the answers are a long, warm yes: viewers describe it as background for cooking, company on a migraine day, or something to share on the couch. One joked it is the soft launch of a book club channel, another lamented that nobody called it "Lost in Relaxation" (the teaser did). Plenty of others want him to take on the BBC's His Dark Materials, with Dafne Keen as Lyra, and the film's dropped ending still stirs strong feelings.
Behind it, the summer's Project Hail Mary episode keeps drawing viewers, as does his 38-minute House of the Dragon Season 3 comparison, which he says he almost didn't make. The channel ran a little below its usual pace and subscribers held at 411,000. Among the movie and TV channels near its size, Movie House had the big week, while The Midnight Horror Society surged far past its own norm.

I already find your regular style relaxing, but an even chiller version is great. Better for calming down on a hard day, or falling asleep to.
People are often loud in their videos, so it's extra nice to have alternatives :)@ghostly_werewolfSee it on YouTubewas having a rough day but dominic's dulcet tones ended up being soothing enough to salvage it :) many thanks from a longtime fan, would really enjoy seeing more of these relaxed editions in the future
@user-eh9sk2zm3zSee it on YouTubeThanks for this new relaxation video. I really like the concept of using the videos to relax, or go to sleep, and I hope that you make more in the future.
@trinaqSee it on YouTubeAs a Norwegian, I would like to note for the benefit of beautiful watchers who aren't super well versed in arctic geography that Svalbard is in fact a real archipelago and a part of Norway. It just has fewer intelligent polar bears, slightly more humans, a massive repository of seeds in case of global climate collapse, and laws against giving birth or burying the dead.
@KrixwellSee it on YouTubeSaw this on Nebula first but came here to make sure I give this format its flowers. Absolutely love a relaxing calming version of this format sprinkled in with your regular shenanigans
@JuniperArtemis16See it on YouTubeI'm not sure how I feel about "Calm Dom".
