Huddersfield up to third, and a Burton back pass viewers can't forget

The League One reel from Burton led six uploads that also took in a six-goal Chesterfield-Tranmere game and a Black History Month question to the players.

Why this story? The channel's weekly summary: what went up this week, what is drawing views now, and where the channel stands among similar channels.

Huddersfield Town went to Burton Albion and came home third, and the EFL's extended highlights of that afternoon became the channel's most watched new upload, past 14,000 views in about a day and a half. The comments are less about the climb than about how the goals arrived: several viewers point at the home side's defending, one calls it the worst goalkeeper howler in history, and a fan writing from Dortmund suggests Burton spend next week practicing back passes.

Close behind sits "SIX GOAL THRILLER!", the League Two reel of Chesterfield against Tranmere Rovers, posted the same day and moving at nearly the same pace. Saturday's football did most of the work.

The rest of the week belonged to October. Two uploads opened Black History Month, with EFL players asked to name their football idols, and the shorter of them has kept finding viewers days later. There was also the September Goal of the Month shortlist, and a #RaisedInTheEFL throwback to Anthony Gordon scoring in the competition now called the Jersey Mike's Trophy back in 2019, long before his Newcastle and England days.

It was a slower stretch than usual for the league's channel, about half a million views over the week and no change in subscribers. Among the football clubs and media channels of its size, GOAL's Front Three and Fooftly were having the big weeks, with Aston Villa and West Ham on the quieter side alongside the EFL.

  • Well that was a gift for the first Huddersfield goal. And the third.
