Aston Villa 7-2 Liverpool 😅
"Aston Villa 7-2 Liverpool 😅" is a trip back to October 2020, when Villa put seven past the reigning Premier League champions at Villa Park. The club posted it on Sunday, and in its first day it gathered more than 38,000 views, by far the quickest start on the official channel this week.
The comments read like a reunion. Ollie Watkins scored a hat-trick that night, and several viewers name him, along with Jack Grealish, whom one fan calls the best player in the league at the time and another still wishes Villa had brought back. Plenty mention Adrián in the Liverpool goal, a few admit they had forgotten it could have been eight, and one notices how gracious Jürgen Klopp looked at the final whistle. The match was played behind closed doors, and someone wonders what the place would have sounded like with a crowd. A Liverpool supporter turns up too, still wincing.
The only other new upload was a training film from the international break camp in Spain, where Unai Emery works the squad in the heat. The bigger draw remains the highlights of the 3-2 win at Tottenham, Villa's first league win of the season, with Manzambi, Jackson and Buendía on the scoresheet and more than two million views behind it.
With no match to show, the channel ran well below its usual pace, and the subscriber count held still. Among the football channels of its size, only West Ham United added fewer views, while GOAL's Front Three and Fooftly had very big weeks.
