Duets with Mareux and Ledbyher, and four million views for The Drums

No new songs went up, yet the band's channel gathered more views than any similar band channel near its size, with subscribers holding at 496,000.

Why this story? The channel's weekly summary: what went up this week, what is drawing views now, and where the channel stands among similar channels.

The Drums posted nothing new, and the channel kept moving anyway. Around four million views arrived over the seven days, more than any of the rock and band channels closest to it in size. The two collaborations Jonny Pierce put out over the summer show where his attention has been.

"It Didn't Matter," the visualizer he made with Mareux, is the one drawing the steadiest daily crowd among the recent uploads. It pairs the New York indie pop of The Drums with a producer best known for dark, synth-heavy covers. Both artists share the writing and production credits. The song is about giving too much and getting nothing back, which suits a band that has always sounded sunniest when it is singing about heartbreak.

"Yes&No," with Ledbyher, is a very different animal: half rap, half chorus, with zodiac jabs and a Scorpio sting in its verses. Six weeks in, it is close behind the Mareux track.

The third song still turning up is older. "The Impossible" comes from the deluxe edition of Jonny, the 2023 album Pierce wrote, played and mixed entirely himself. Those three uploads alone account for only a small share of the week's views. Perhaps listeners are working through the back catalog that began with "Let's Go Surfing"?

The count of subscribers stayed exactly where it was. Among similar bands, John Fogerty, Architects and Sleeping With Sirens each had busy weeks of their own, though none drew quite as many views as The Drums.
