A Miata in the rain and one mangled 'umbrella' carry The Daily Downshift
The short ran about twelve times past the channel's usual first day, and nearly every comment is about how the narrator says two words.
Why this story? The video opened at a pace of 680,120 views a day, 12 times a normal first day on this channel (54,330).
Miata's don't get Wet in Rain ☔️
No car channel near The Daily Downshift's size draws more views on an ordinary day, which makes an upload that stands out here worth a look. "Miata's don't get Wet in Rain ☔️" passed 600,000 views within 21 hours, about twelve times what a new short on the channel usually manages in its first day.
The premise is in the title: a little Mazda roadster in a downpour, an umbrella that does not survive, and the claim that the car somehow stays dry. The comment section has chosen its own favorite part, though, and it is the voice-over. Viewers keep repeating how the narrator says "Miata," stretched by an extra syllable or two, and "umbrella," which arrives with a whoop at the front. One viewer points out that the person on screen says the car's name plainly while the narrator does not. Another skips the joke and explains the trick: the angled windshield sends the water up and over the car.
That talk came in fast. The comments arrived roughly three times quicker than on a usual first day for the channel's shorts.
The channel spends most of its time on cars meeting water and other bad ideas, from a swimming bus to a Cybercab put to the same test, and its Cybertruck short from the same day also drew a solid crowd. Even so, the channel's overall daily views are running below their usual level, so on this stretch the Miata is the one keeping its head above the rain.
