A borescope down a $280,000 Aston Martin V12, Samcrac's one new upload

The 2011 DBS Volante, bought at auction for less than half its retail value, still runs rough, so Sam pulled the coils and plugs and went looking inside the cylinders.

Why this story? The channel's weekly summary: what went up this week, what is drawing views now, and where the channel stands among similar channels.

Among the car channels near Samcrac's size, the loudest weeks belong to others: Gas Monkey Garage and Hoovies Garage are both running well above their usual pace. Samcrac sits in the steadier middle, drawing a little under its normal daily views, which still means well over 200,000 a day.

Sam put out a single video, and it picks up a story his viewers already know. The Aston Martin is a 2011 DBS Volante, bought cheaply at auction with a rough-running V12 that a first round of common fixes did not cure. This time the top of the engine comes apart. The intake manifolds come off, the ignition coils and spark plugs come out, and a borescope camera goes down into the cylinders. The description hints at suspicious parts and hidden problems that might explain why the car was sold so cheaply, and leaves open the bigger question of whether this is a fixable glitch or a full rebuild of a hand-built engine.

It found its audience quickly, with about 350,000 views on its first day. Even so, the video doing the most daily work on the channel is seven weeks old: "Porsche GT3 vs Big Motor eBike," now past five million views. An $800 auction Mercedes S-Class repair from early September follows close behind the Aston, which fits a channel whose own about text promises cars and chickens, and whose cars mostly come cheap.
