A Ferrari car enthusiasts hate lands in Tyler Hoover's Hooptie Fleet
The one new video of the week, which says the critics are all wrong, drew about 355,000 views on its first day.
Why this story? The channel's weekly summary: what went up this week, what is drawing views now, and where the channel stands among similar channels.
I Bought The Ferrari That Car Enthusiasts Hate, And They're All Wrong!
Tyler Hoover bought a Ferrari, and not the one most people would pick. His only upload of the week is titled "I Bought The Ferrari That Car Enthusiasts Hate, And They're All Wrong!" It is a defense of a car the internet loves to dismiss. The title keeps the model to itself, which is half the bait.
It is also very much a Hoovies Garage purchase. The channel's own description promises "suicidal car purchases" and a running collection he calls the Hooptie Fleet. A prancing horse fits that collection only when it comes with a reputation problem attached. The video took about 355,000 views in its first day and has passed 450,000 since, far ahead of anything else on the channel right now.
The Ferrari arrived after two very different videos. Two weeks ago he had good things to say about a cheap Rolls-Royce Corniche, which has since drawn nearly 600,000 views. Before the Ferrari came "When Is the Right Time To Quit YouTube?", a nine-day-old question that is still finding viewers. That is an odd title to have sitting next to a new Ferrari, and maybe the answer is "not yet".
Overall, the channel is drawing well under twice its usual daily views. Among the car channels near its size, that is one of the few to run clearly above their norm, alongside Gas Monkey Garage, which is having a big week of its own. Dave's Auto Center and LegitStreetCars are running a little below their usual pace.
