Fifty-six magnets in resin: Brian's MAYHEM slug for TAOFLEDERMAUS
Billed as a miniature Claymore mine in a 12-gauge shell, the week's only upload drew roughly 345,000 views in its first day.
Why this story? The channel's weekly summary: what went up this week, what is drawing views now, and where the channel stands among similar channels.
MAYHEM 12ga. Shotgun Slug - Like a Miniature Claymore Mine
"MAYHEM 12ga. Shotgun Slug - Like a Miniature Claymore Mine" is the one new video on TAOFLEDERMAUS, the channel that builds much of its work on slugs its viewers design and send in. This one came from Brian. It starts with a Lehigh Extreme Penetrator bullet, wraps it in 56 neodymium magnets and casts the whole thing in resin. According to the description, the magnets add almost 150 grains and break apart into separate projectiles on impact. The magnetism itself is mostly there for convenience: it holds everything in place while the slug is being assembled.
The video passed half a million views in three days and is easily the busiest thing on the channel. Behind it, last summer's liquid-filled slugs, already past a million, are still drawing a steady stream of views. Steven from Canada's toilet-paper wire rope slug, his fourth version, is still moving too, two and a half weeks after it went up.
That single upload lifted the whole channel. Daily views are running about a third above their usual level, while most of its neighbors in the military and weapons group, Skallagrim, The Tank Museum and Military Arms Channel among them, are running under their own norms. sootch00 and Black Rifle Coffee Company are the other two having a better-than-usual stretch.
