Video taking off 16x its usual first day

A 4am police operation over months-old graffiti? Kevin O'Sullivan asks about the Iranian embassy

Isabel Oakeshott, Talk's international editor, joins him on a story that drew more comments in nine hours than a TalkTV video usually gets in a whole day.

Why this story? The video opened at a pace of 312,018 views a day, 16 times a normal first day on this channel (18,980).

“It’s Getting Very STRANGE!” | Police Operation At the Iranian Embassy Raises Questions“It’s Getting Very STRANGE!” | Police Operation At the Iranian Embassy Raises Questions

Police at the Iranian embassy in London at four in the morning, and an explanation about graffiti that has reportedly been on the building since January. That gap between the hour and the reason is the whole question in "“It’s Getting Very STRANGE!” | Police Operation At the Iranian Embassy Raises Questions."

The video's description is careful with its wording. It calls the large Metropolitan Police operation a claim that is circulating, and it says officers reportedly told people they were answering a complaint about the old graffiti. Kevin O'Sullivan puts that account to Isabel Oakeshott, Talk's international editor and a longtime political journalist. The building has a history of its own: the embassy sits in Knightsbridge, where the six-day siege of 1980 played out.

The segment passed 175,000 views in its first nine hours. A longer TalkTV video usually ends its entire first day below 20,000. The comment section moved even faster. Close to 400 comments came in by that point, more than three times what a full first day normally brings. Much of it is doubt about the graffiti explanation, and several viewers wonder whether the operation is connected to the RAF Fairford arrests the channel covered last week, as we reported here.

The channel's other standout of the day also came from O'Sullivan's desk. "“The Gruesome Twosome” | Meghan And Harry Hoping To End Feud With William And Kate" has him with Kinsey Schofield, discussing an Express report, based on an unnamed source, that the Sussexes hope for a sit-down with William and Kate. It is running at about six times the channel's usual start.
