'Anger swept around the country': the Sunday Supplement takes on Man City

City have lodged their appeal and call the judgement against them an "opinion," and the newspaper panel spent its Sunday on what that means beyond football.

Why this story? The channel's weekly summary: what went up this week, what is drawing views now, and where the channel stands among similar channels.

An ordinary day on Sky Sports News brings in around a million and a half views. The latest ran past two and a half million, and it is easy to see why: the Manchester City verdict has not left the channel's front page all week.

As we reported here, the paper trail came first. The piece on Etihad's 2015 statement to US government departments has gone past a million views, setting what the airline told Washington then against the argument City are expected to make on appeal now. Kaveh Solhekol, the channel's chief football correspondent, followed it with a viewer Q&A on what an independent commission's finding of £830m in disguised funding could mean.

The newest video is the one moving fastest. On the Sunday Supplement, the panel works through the morning papers, then the impact outside football, then what the description calls the ripple effect. It lands a day after City lodged their appeal, insisting they are innocent and calling the judgement "opinion." Under the Etihad video, that one word is what many viewers keep coming back to.

The same panel also found time for good news: England's 7-0 win over Croatia in the Nations League, and how much Jude Bellingham has meant to Thomas Tuchel's side. A news conference with Ireland, cut short after tense exchanges with Israeli media, drew a steady audience of its own.

Among the nine football channels nearest in size, Sky Sports News gained the third-most views this week. FutVibes had the big week in the group, while talkSPORT and The Overlap ran below their usual pace.
