Chocolate for the dogs
Sharing a chocolate bar with a dog is the fantasy. Leaving out the chocolate is the essential part. In "Chocolate for the dogs", Shef_Phoenix makes an imitation bar for a friend's Samoyed, drawing nearly 800,000 views since yesterday.
Calling himself a "culinary weirdo", he swaps cocoa for carob powder, which contains no theobromine, the compound that makes chocolate toxic to dogs. He whisks it into melted coconut oil and peanut butter, then pours the mixture into silicone bar moulds and an ice-cube tray. The finished bars even snap when broken.
The comments add a useful ingredient check: peanut butter must not contain xylitol, a sweetener toxic to dogs. Several viewers also say the title initially startled them, before the substitution became clear.
The dog gets a piece, but the tasting doesn't stop there. His friend tries the bar, and Shef_Phoenix samples his own work too. His verdict: "It's delicious."
