SNL adds 100,000 subscribers ahead of Druski's hosting turn
The channel's unusually large daily gain comes as a Queen Mary sketch and Bobby Moynihan's Weekend Update return pass a million views each.
Why this story? The channel is adding 100,009 subscribers a day, 59 times a normal day (1,704).
okay then
Ghosts aboard the Queen Mary and Bobby Moynihan's Drunk Uncle are sharing the spotlight with an unusually large subscriber jump at Saturday Night Live. The channel added roughly 100,000 subscribers in a day, bringing it to 17.5 million, far beyond its usual daily increase.
Views are also running above their usual pace, though the lift is much gentler than the subscriber surge. There's no clear reason to pin the new subscriptions on one sketch.
Two uploads have crossed the million-view mark. In "Queen Mary Ghosts - SNL", Inde Navarrette, Mikey Day, Sarah Sherman and Marcello Hernández play spirits haunting the final stop of a ghost tour. Meanwhile, "Weekend Update ft. Ben Marshall and Bobby Moynihan - SNL" brings Ben Marshall's Pennywise and Moynihan's returning Drunk Uncle to Colin Jost and Michael Che's desk. That's a distinctly awkward pair of visitors for the news segment.
The channel is already looking toward a different guest. Its new promo, "Druski Says Hosting SNL Is Even Better Than His Childhood Dream", introduces the comedian ahead of his November 7 hosting appearance, with The Strokes as musical guest.
