Adventure Bay now comes with a crime-scene location card and the famous Law & Order sound effect. In "Paw Patrol: Special Victims Unit - SNL," Saturday Night Live takes the children's rescue team somewhere very much not meant for children, and nearly 900,000 people watched it since yesterday.

This week's host, Inde Navarrette, plays Ryder, a pup leader who has traded cheerful missions for a grim briefing. Kenan Thompson, Marcello Hernández, Jeremy Culhane, Veronika Slowikowska and Grace Reiter fill out the costumed rescue dogs. "Cap'n Turbot is dead," Ryder announces, and the case only gets darker from there: Marshall can't grasp the seriousness, Zuma's bone turns out to be evidence, and Mayor Humdinger walks in ready to confess. "And I'd do it again!" he declares.

The parody keeps its references precise. Its rescuer is a puppet called Detective Ice Smelt T, a nod to Ice-T, who has played Detective Fin Tutuola on Law & Order: SVU for more than two decades. The closing card bills the show as airing on "nick sr." right after "CoComelon Criminal Intent."

The comments arrived about twice as fast as on the channel's usual first day. Many viewers point to the moment Navarrette stumbles over a line about Turbot, rendered by fans as "Turbot's Corso," and spends the next stretch fighting not to laugh. Others praise how closely each cast member matches their pup, and some remember an earlier SNL PAW Patrol sketch with Oscar Isaac.
