Saturday Night Live fills its week with Halloween nerves

Eleven uploads include Inde Navarrette's hosting promos and a new arrival titled "the secret word is peanut."

Why this story? The channel's weekly summary: what went up this week, what is drawing views now, and where the channel stands among similar channels.

Saturday Night Live added roughly 85 million views over seven days, a substantial week for its mix of sketches, promos and archive favorites. Its subscriber count stayed unchanged, but daily viewing is running above its usual pace.

The new uploads have a distinctly nervous streak. "don't do that" has reached about 2.6 million views and is also the channel's busiest video right now. In the staged promo, Inde Navarrette announces her hosting appearance with musical guest Gracie Abrams, then wishes everyone a happy Valentine's Day. Correcting the occasion to Halloween only makes the exchange more uncomfortable: Navarrette insists that "Obsession is a rom-com," and her scene partner quickly learns not to argue.

The comments linger on that warning delivery and on the contrast between Navarrette and her comparatively composed partner. It's a small piece of promotion with a character dynamic viewers have plenty to discuss.

The same hosting buildup supplies the next two uploads carrying the most momentum: "the scariest thing is the unknown" and "Inde Navarrette Isn't Scared to Host SNL on Halloween." Elsewhere in late night, Jimmy Kimmel Live's daily viewing is well above its usual level, while The Tonight Show is closer to its customary pace.

SNL's eleven-upload week also leaves room for "so spooky," "scream queen icons" and the newly posted "the secret word is peanut." The October 31 episode has quite a collection of short invitations.
