'One for the money 2 for the show': a buck at close range on Samson's Whitetail Mountain
The short borrows its title from an old counting rhyme, and its comment section turned into a long argument over what counts as hunting.
Why this story? The video opened at a pace of 277,721 views a day, 16 times a normal first day on this channel (17,438).
One for the money 2 for the show !! #deer #wildlife
Samson's Whitetail Mountain is a privately owned hunting estate in Southern Illinois run by Jerry Stafford. It sells guided whitetail and elk hunts, and its channel is mostly a steady stream of short clips from those hunts, posted several a day with plain hashtag titles. One of the newest, "One for the money 2 for the show !! #deer #wildlife", passed 130,000 views within eight hours. A new short here usually gathers well under 20,000 in its whole first day.
It did not arrive alone. A short about a piebald deer, the kind with white patches through its brown coat, went up the same day and drew a crowd almost as large. Other clips from the same days, a giant elk bull and a big typical buck among them, stayed close to the channel's usual pace.
The comment section moved even faster than the views. It already holds around nine times as many comments as a usual first day. Much of the talk is a debate among hunters themselves. Many viewers question whether shooting a buck on a private estate is hunting at all. Others go over the shot frame by frame and point out how close the deer was. A smaller group speaks up for the older men in the clip, saying nobody knows how many miles they walked in their younger seasons.

The title echoes an old counting rhyme that also opens a 1950s rock and roll hit. Who wrote and first recorded "Blue Suede Shoes"?
Carl Perkins wrote "Blue Suede Shoes" and released his own recording on Sun Records in early 1956, before Elvis Presley's well-known cover.
