Buffy, a white Steiff bear from Season 1, gets a second appraisal
The Vintage First Finds revival reached its third hour, and the channel's total crossed 275 million views along the way.
Why this story? The channel's weekly summary: what went up this week, what is drawing views now, and where the channel stands among similar channels.
Has the Value of This Steiff Bear Gone Up or Down After 30 Years? | ANTIQUES ROADSHOW Preview
Antiques Roadshow's channel has passed 275 million total views, and it got there by looking backward. The "Vintage First Finds" run returns to treasures from the show's very first season, and Hour 3 arrived in full on October 6. It opens with a white Steiff bear from around 1925, known as Buffy, then moves through Mimbres pottery, a Tiffany Favrile vase, an Emile Jumeau doll, an 1885 Mark Twain first edition and a prisoner-carved coconut. The description teases that one of them climbs to $55,000-$60,000, without saying which.
Buffy also had a preview of her own, and it was the most watched upload of the week. Its title asks whether the bear's value went up or down over thirty years. In the comments, viewers do the math themselves: one points out that the 1990s figure, adjusted for today's dollars, makes the new number look smaller. Others remember seeing the original episode in the 90s, and one now plans to research a bag of teddy bears picked up last weekend.
The Detours podcast went somewhere else entirely. Host Adam Monahan returned to Candace Jordan, who brought her 1976 Playboy "Bunny of the Year" costume to the Chicago event in 2014, and followed the collection to the Chicago History Museum.
Views ran a little under the channel's usual pace, with about a thousand new subscribers. Among similar TV channels, Fox Nation had the big week, and Turner Classic Movies ran ahead of its own norm. Hour 1's dusty instrument preview, three weeks old, is still drawing a steady crowd of its own.

@Kymberlee_WSee it on YouTubeLast weekend I bought a trash bag full of teddy bears. They came from an elderly lady and are in excellent condition. I was going to donate them but I better do some research first.
